The Hendricks County Sexual Violence Task Force was formed to build and implement initiatives that will reduce the prevalence of sexual violence in our communities. We seek to do this by educating individuals, professionals and the community as a whole on various aspects of sexual violence, such as:
· Defining sexual violence and educating on the meaning of sexual violence.
· Understanding the effects of sexual violence on both individual victims and their communities.
· Identifying risk factors and promoting protective factors at the individual, relationship, community and societal levels.
· Recognizing the need for prevention strategies to limit the occurrence of sexual violence and its effects.
· Methods for educating communities and individuals on sexual violence, advocating for potential victims and forming collaborations in the community that help to prevent sexual violence.
Most importantly, we hope that our efforts lead to a community that is aware of the impact of sexual violence and that is determined to eliminate its occurrence through widespread prevention initiatives. We sincerely hope that you will be able to embrace our cause and take part in achieving this goal.
